Navigating the world at the intersection of queerness and trauma can leave the nervous system in a quiet, chronic state of bracing. Between the labor of self-advocacy, sensory overload, and navigating spaces where you have to measure your words, simply existing can feel like an endurance test.
The Sanctuary is a non-clinical, virtual peer gathering for LGBTQ+ adults who are weary of performing. There are no clipboards, no diagnostic checklists, no institutional power dynamics, and no toxic positivity. We meet on level ground as fellow travelers to share what is real, sit in companionable silence, or simply decompress among folks who understand the terrain without you having to explain the LGBTQ+ experience.
Those of us looking for queer C-PTSD support, only a trauma-informed queer community will do.
Zero-Demand Presence: You are welcome with your camera on or off (after a brief check in). You can share openly, speak only in the chat, or simply listen and let the room hold the space for you. You will never be called on or pressured to share.
Non-Clinical Mutuality: This is peer-held support rooted in lived experience. We do not offer medical diagnosis, unsolicited advice, or attempts to "fix" one another. We practice deep, non-judgmental witness.
Affirming with Unconditional Welcome: Whether you are navigating complex trauma, identity evolution, burnout, or isolation, you do not need to curate yourself to belong here. Come as you are, in whatever capacity you have today.
Where: Hosted virtually via Luma (Google Meet link provided upon registration).
Length: 90 Minutes
Cost: Completely Free to Attend.
To protect the nervous systems of everyone gathering, this space is strictly grounded in confidentiality, anti-oppression, mutual consent, and shared respect.
A gentle note on scope: This peer circle is a supportive community, not psychotherapy or crisis intervention. If you are navigating an acute, immediate crisis, please know you do not have to carry it alone—free, 24/7 confidential support is always available through The Trevor Project (1-866-488-7386) or by calling/texting 988.
